ALS Intervention Timing
AAC intervention is difficult once person cannot speak
PALS often slow speaking rate to maintain intelligibility
Intelligibility is a poor predictor because deterioration of speech can occur rapidly
Once speaking rate is 50% of normal, begin AAC intervention
